In this special edition, we will take a closer look at what tools are available for city planners and local administrations to foster citizen engagement and to include the ideas and needs of inhabitants in the planning and implementation of nature-based solutions.

The City of Envigado (Colombia) and OPPLA will present how the computer game Minecraft can be utilized to engage young people in reimagining and co-designing more green and blue urban spaces. The city of Portoviejo (Ecuador) will share experiences from a participatory process in the context of developing the Mamey park. And our colleagues from YES Innovation will showcase the “Unlimited Cities DIY” application, which allows everyone to give ideas for public spaces of a neighborhood and share them with other city inhabitants. Join us to get inspired and share your own experiences & tools!

Speakers:

  • Paul Mahony, OPPLA
  • Johana Tabares Bahena, Secretaría de Medio Ambiente, Envigado
  • Karen Intriago, Coordinadora de Diseño Urbanístico, Municipio de Portoviejo
