The Global forest summit is a civil-society-led initiative co-funded by Reforst'Action and the Open Diplomacy Institue. Launched in 2021 under President Emmanuel Macron, the summit will run every year until 2030 to keep under scrutiny major pledges and achievements for forests.

Join the summit on the 24th of March 2022, live from Brussels. This edition will happen in special times. 2022 is not only the moment of the 15th FAO’s World Forestry Congress. 2022 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference which gave birth to the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and paved the way for global governance of the environment. It is the 30th anniversary of the Rio Summit too, which created the UNFCCC, UNCCD, and UNCBD - forming a nexus around forests - and set the Rio Forests Principles - grounding modern approaches for sustainable forests management -.

Some months after the COP 26 Glasgow Conference and its Global Pledge for Forests, and some months ahead of the long-expected UNCBD COP 15 in Kunming, as well as the UNCCD COP 15, the Global Forest Summit, are inviting attendees to this civil-society led Summit recalling the importance of forests protection and restoration to achieve goals set in all these diplomatic arenas.
