Loss of biodiversity and ecosystem degradation pose a challenge to food production, human well-being and the resilience of our societies. This has been proven by science, which has laid the foundation for policy to halt biodiversity loss and make ecosystems more sustainable.
There is a growing need to further develop science-policy interfaces to address both direct and indirect threats to biodiversity, the systemic mechanisms underlying biodiversity degradation, and to integrate governance into the conservation and restoration of ecosystems.
This webinar is the first in a series of webinars on Alternet science policy.
It will feature introductions to the scientific policy landscape on European biodiversity and ecosystems and the activities of Alternet, a keynote on supporting governance and biodiversity policies in Europe. EU with science and a panel discussion with world-renowned science policy specialists from adjacent fields of forestry, urban development and human health, each with solid science policy interfaces.
