Meeting Notes - February 26, 2025

Announcements, Upcoming Events, Opportunities, and Reminders (10 minutes)

  • Introductions: Niranjana Bindu (Horizon Nua, CNEP) and David Salaberri (Bioazul)

Collaboration Opportunities (5 minutes)

  • NBS EduWORLD (#FostertheFuture Campaign): Clotilde shared the invitation to join the campaign here. NBS EduWORLD, in collaboration with TF5, is financing a design guide to help create NbS 101 resources, primarily for journalists to showcase local examples. The goal is to finalize by mid-May — contributions are welcome.

  • Call for Contributions:

    • Focus Group on Design guide for journalists (30 minutes) — Claudia expressed preliminary interest. Contact Clotilde Mahe (clotilde.mahe@iclei.org).

    • University of Malta - JustNature Final Conference: Considering hosting in Brussels within 6–9 months. Contact Emma Clarke for participation as a speaker or otherwise.

    • Note: Potential overlap with the annual event. Karen flagged September as a less ideal time.

  • Upcoming Events:

    • Cities Mission Conference: Kassia

    • Treatment Wetlands for Water Pollution Control (NICE NbS) - June: Adriana

    • Storytelling Campaign: Natalia Brack is collecting successful case studies (flexible timeline). Interested parties can reach her at natalia.brack@iid-sii.org.

    • Policy Events: Closed-door events through NetworkNature.

  • Toolkit Update: Kassia provided a status update. This is still in process, but we are moving forward!

TF4 Biannual Work Plan Review (10 Minutes) (view document here)

  • Update due ASAP — review to ensure priorities align (e.g., storytelling campaign).

  • Communication approaches need refining.

  • Networking and Collaboration: Edward (JustNature) highlighted opportunities through webinars, final conferences, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Key action point: Mapping 2025 TF4 activities to enhance collaboration.

  • Meeting Structure:

    • Rotating chair approach.

    • Peer-to-peer learning — identify topics first, then find experts to lead.

  • TF4 & TF5 Collaboration: NBRACER is eager to work with EduWORLD on youth initiatives.

  • Workshop on Stakeholder Engagement & Audience Communication: Focus on translating project findings with consortium partners.

  • Citizen Action Roadmap: Claudia proposed designing a card game, with TF4 as a focus group for feedback, potentially building on Natalia’s work.

  • Joint Article: A collaborative piece, similar to the joint COP article ICLEI produced, was suggested.

Workshopping Common Challenges (20 Minutes)

  • Work Package Participation:

    • EduWORLD: Large communications WP with 16 partners, but contribution and activity alerts are inconsistent. The comms tracker and partner dissemination KPIs need better understanding. Previous comms WP meetings were often handled solo.

    • NBRACER (Natalia):

      • Managing comms with 31 partners since 2023 has been challenging.

      • Solutions: Internal newsletter for regions, regular meetings with regional coordinators and WP leads, a press review tracker, and direct calls when communication lags.

      • Created an internal channel for events, news, and partner invitations.

2025 Project Newsbit Planning (5 minutes)

  • Adriana led discussions on organizing and streamlining project news for the upcoming year.  Reach out to her with questions.

  • Wrap-up with key next steps and follow-ups to ensure momentum and accountability.
