Events & calls for interest

Let Nature be the Solution, 10th December, Brussels:  This event brings together people around Europe to learn about education for sustainability in Europe, to share the innovative use of nature-based solutions in education, and to celebrate the winners of the First Teachers Competition ‘Nature-Based Solutions in Education’. 

Biodiversity - New Science, Policy and Practices!” 15th December.  This High-Level morning session will be held online from 10:00-12:00. It will be a great occasion to present the new landscape and the opportunities the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 with its new governance framework, is bringing for policy, research, and practice, in particular with the official launch of the Actions Tracker and the Biodiversity Dashboard. 

H2020 NetworkNature call for case-studies on ecosystem restoration open until 17th  December 

Horizon Europe Biodiversa+, the European Biodiversity Partnership, is setting-up an Enlarged Stakeholder Board comprising a broad range of stakeholders in the field of biodiversity, ecosystem services and Nature-based Solutions, apply to be part of our Enlarged Stakeholder Board here by 17 December 2021. 

Call for interest to become an expert in the EIP- AGRI (European Innovation Partnership -  Agriculture) Focus Group, in particular for the “Water: Nature-Based Solutions for water management under climate change” (deadline: 11 January 2022). 
 

Call for expression of interest addressed to cities to join the European Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities. Cities can express interest here  and will then be asked to fill in an online questionnaire (preview) that will allow submitting information on the city’s current situation, ongoing work, and plans regarding climate neutrality. 

Publications and other info 

Horizon2020 GrowGreen Manchester demonstration site, West Gorton Community Park, has won the Excellence in Flood and Water Management category of the 2021 UK Landscape Institute Awards.  It includes rain gardens, swales, bioretention tree pits and permeable surface to all act as a 'sponge', to delay the flow of rainwater into the sewerage system and therefore to alleviate flooding.
