The NbS and biodiversity community is as active as ever. Many opportunities to explore, events & webinars to attend, and relevant publications have come out. We would like to highlight in particular the Biodiversa+ transnational joint research call on Improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society !

Opportunities

·       Biodiversa+, the European Biodiversity Partnership under Horizon Europe, has launched a new transnational joint research call on the following topic: Improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society. This call covers the following three non-exclusive research themes: 1) Innovation and harmonisation of methods and tools for collection and management of biodiversity monitoring data, 2) Addressing knowledge gaps on biodiversity status, dynamics, and trends to reverse biodiversity loss, 3) Making use of available biodiversity monitoring data. The deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 9 November 2022 at 15:00 CET. More information about this call is available on this Biodiversa+ website. An information webinar for potential applicants will be organised on 20 September 2022, from 3:00PM to 4:30PM CEST. Register now to participate in this workshop!

·       IPBES, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, will carry out a methodological assessment of the impact and dependence of business on biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people (“business and biodiversity assessment”) and is currently calling for the nominations of experts and fellows to participate in the assessment. Both calls are open until 15 November 2022. More information will also be provided in an online dialogue meeting for stakeholders on 6 October 2022. ·       Online public consultation on the development of a possible EU Soil Health Law. Sustainable soil management and restoration requires the involvement of a wide range of economic and societal actors and all interested parties are invited to contribute to the consultation - util 24 October 2022.

The topics to be covered by the three new Focus Groups are: (1) Enhancing the biodiversity on farmland through high-diversity landscape features, (2) Social farming and innovations and (3) Recovery of abandoned agricultural lands.
