Two datasets on marine and terrestrial harvest - “Traditional use of a changing Arctic” (FutureArcticLives)

Resource description:

The project has developed a pilot for mapping of traditional and Sami use of land and water (fisheries) through geographical information systems (GIS). The datasets also contain information on observation of species and ecosystem services covering chosen areas in Finnmark over generational or shorter time spans. Traditional use by the themes reindeer husbandry (8 datasets), fisheries (7 datasets), hunting and harvesting (5 datasets), use of wood (5 datasets), other gathering/harvesting (11 datasets), buildings and dwellings (7 datasets), travel, leisure and recreation (12 datasets).   The project was financed by BiodivErsa and lead by the University of Copenhagen. UiT was responsible for the "WP 3 biodviersity and wellbeing implications of climate change for coastal Saami in northern Norway". Also the project CoastChange contributed to developing the data collection, financied by the Fram Centre for Environmental Research, Tromsø.
