Resource description:
This resource presents the full slide deck from the BioValue Final Event, held at the conclusion of the three-year Horizon Europe BioValue project. The presentation offers a comprehensive overview of the project’s goals, methodologies, case-study Arenas, key findings, recommendations, and policy implications concerning transformative change for biodiversity within spatial planning.
The slides summarise BioValue’s overview over analytical and conceptual aspects, including the spatial planning model, a framework for assessing transformative potential, and three main ambitions: (1) safeguarding and restoring biodiversity, (2) contributing to sustainable consumption and production, and (3) reducing socio-economic inequalities. The presentation also synthesises insights from the three Arenas for Transformation (Trento, Mafra, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), showcasing practical challenges, pathways for upscaling transformative change, and the multi-level governance conditions needed to integrate biodiversity in planning practice.
Core project outputs are highlighted, including the Catalogue of Instruments, the Recommendations for Transformative Change, and the analysis of planning instruments across three perspectives (Spatial Planning & Management Instruments, Environmental Assessment Instruments, Economic & Financial Instruments).
The slide deck captures the collective learning of eight partners across four countries and provides an accessible entry point for planners, researchers, policymakers and practitioners aiming to integrate biodiversity values into planning systems. It serves both as a project summary and a replicable reference for implementing transformative spatial planning in other EU Member States.
