Healthy reefs for recreation, fisheries and flood protection on St.Eustatius

Area characterisation:

St.Eustatius is part of the Caribbean Netherlands and lies in the northern Leeward Islands portion of the West Indies.

Objective:

Identification of the health of the coral reef of St.Eustatius. The reefs are important drivers for dive tourism, they support local fisheries and they protect against storms.

Potential impacts/benefits:

  • provide insights in the current trends in the health of the ecosystem
  • identify likely drivers of change
  • identify potential management options to reach desirable ES service level
