When it was unveiled in late 2019 as one of the first acts of the Von der Leyen Commission, the European Green Deal promised to deliver ‘a set of deeply transformative policies’. As we approach the mid-point of the EU’s five-year cycle and start to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, how much progress has been made in delivering on that promise? Where has the Green Deal been a game-changer for the better, where have its results been mixed and where has it simply disappointed? Will the war in Ukraine be used to undermine the green transition or rather help to accelerate it? How can we mobilise a whole-of-society shift towards living within planetary boundaries?
These are some of the questions that will be addressed at the EEB’s 2022 Annual Conference, which, after more than two years of meetings being mainly held online, will take place as a physical event in the inspiring Art-Nouveau-style setting of Les Ateliers des Tanneurs, Brussels, on Friday 17 June 2022.
