“Green transition for people, nature and climate” 5th of May, 16:00-18:30 CET, virtual

Topic: Transformation to a nature-positive, climate-neutral, resilient future with integrated biodiversity and climate policies and new or reinforced partnerships with a view to green economic recovery and prevention of future pandemics.

Objective: Participants have discussed and deepened their understanding of strategies and actions needed in the current Covid crisis to effectuate the required transformative change for people, nature and climate by 2050 and identified implications for the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework (GBF) and the implementation of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement.

Outcome: Actions by actors from government, business and civil society for supporting the integration of biodiversity and climate in shorter-term green economic recovery strategies and to pursue joint objectives of the CBD GBF and the UNFCCC Paris Agreement as a long-term strategy are discussed and considerations on how to better address climate issues in the GBF are exchanged.
