Local authorities from all over the world commit to Action for Biodiversity

14 December 2018

Following the 6th Global Biodiversity Summit of Local and Subnational Governments, local authorities from all over the world have committed to implementing actions to achieve all the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity.

The Sharm El-Sheikh Communiqué for Local and subnational Action for Nature and People 2018 builds on consecutive previous Summit outcomes and declarations and helps puts nature-based solutions on the map with:

  1. Reference to EU nature-based solutions projects in support of implementing cities’ biodiversity ambitions.
  2. A statement confirming authorities will treasure and invest in strong collaboration between city and regional networks who are working together and aligning efforts for maximum impact to mainstream nature-based solutions, promote biodiversity action and enhance and restore ecosystems in our territories.
