Resource description:
This infographic presents the Bozcaada Island (Türkiye) Case Study from the NATMed PRIMA Project, demonstrating how integrated monitoring systems and NbS can enhance water resilience in vulnerable island environments
Bozcaada, a unique island rich in natural beauty, is increasingly exposed to water stress due to tourism, agriculture, and climate change. To address these pressures, NATMed has implemented an advanced groundwater monitoring system, collecting real-time data every minute to track changes in water levels and quality. Complementing monitoring efforts, the project deploys NbS on the ground, including terraces, conservation farming, treated wastewater reuse, and smart irrigation combined to protect water resources while boosting agricultural resilience.
