PRESS RELEASE - First International Civil Society Forum on Nature Finance

Belfast, Northern Ireland, 18-19 March 2026

 

The BIOFIN-EU project, in collaboration with UK Research and Innovation announces the first International Civil Society Forum on Nature Finance, taking place from March 18–19, 2026, at Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast. 
 

Who pays for nature, and who decides?

This forum brings together civil society organisations, grassroots activists, policymakers, and leading researchers to address the ethical and practical complexities of nature-based investments.

The two-day event is designed to include panel discussions, interactive sessions, and stakeholder exchanges, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants. It will focus on the following questions: 

  • Who should pay for nature restoration? 
  • How do we value nature? 
  • How do we mobilise investment? 
  • What are the implications of private investment in restoration? 
     

Program Highlights:

Day 1 (March 18): Dedicated to Civil Society contributions 

Day 2 (March 19): Focused on policy integration
