This is the fourth webinar organised by the SpongeScapes and SpongeWorks projects: "Beyond floods and droughts: from hydrological to socioeconomic impacts of sponge measures".
Since February 2025, this webinar series has explored sponge measures step by step.
The first webinar introduced what sponge measures are and how they work at the landscape scale. The second looked at how their effects can be monitored in the field, with case studies from across Europe. The third focused on hydrological modelling to assess their role in reducing floods and droughts, including under climate change.
This fourth webinar takes the next step: going beyond hydrology to look at what sponge measures mean for people, local economies and society.
Speakers:
- Francesco Pagliacci, Associate Professor, University of Padua, Italy
- Ha Vu, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA)
