This comparative policy analysis assesses the role of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction across the Western Balkans. It provides policymakers with insights into the current status of NbS in existing policies and identifies opportunities for strengthening their integration.

Using the IUCN Global Standard for NbS, the analysis develops a structured framework to evaluate policy relevance across climate and disaster risk domains. It also considers EU, regional, and international policy frameworks influencing the Western Balkans, highlighting pathways to better align NbS with climate and environmental policy objectives.
