Horizon Nua is delivering a Business Development Programme for early-stage ocean farmers - New Ventures in Regenerative Ocean Farming - as part of the C-FAARER project, funded by the European Union under the EU Ocean Missions.

In Europe, the seaweed industry is estimated to create 85,000 jobs and generate €9.3 billion by 2030, fuelled by the global increase in demand for seaweed production. Besides monetary benefits, the industry also promises significant environmental benefits through CO2 sequestration (circa. 5 million tonnes per annum) and consequent improvement of marine ecosystem services.

This business development programme will equip entrepreneurs who are looking to enter this booming sector with business acumen and technical know-how required to start and scale a new, sustainable venture in regenerative ocean farming. The course will provide an overview of the sector and its technical aspects, along with business models, strategies and financing.

The programme will use the modules developed by Horizon Nua as part of NBS Eduworld project which will be adapted to the aquaculture sector with relevant findings and case studies from the C-FAARER project. The programme will have an interactive format with a Q&A at the end of each session.

This programme, open to anyone who has a start-up or intends to set up a business in the regenerative ocean farming sector, will run for 5 weeks in May - from 1st to 29th May, 2025. The sessions will be delivered online via Zoom, every Thursday evening from 6:00 PM GMT/7:00 PM CET.
