The ninth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES-9) will consider the thematic assessment of the sustainable use of wild species, and the methodological assessment regarding the diverse conceptualization of multiple values of nature and its benefits, including biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services.
IPBES is the intergovernmental body that assesses the state of biodiversity and the ecosystem services it provides to society, in response to requests from decision makers. The IPBES-9 Plenary will also consider the scoping report for a methodological assessment of the impact and dependence of business on biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people.
IPBES-9 will be preceded by regional consultations and a Stakeholder Day on 2 July 2022.
