With regards to urban green infrastructure, there are a number of studies that address effects of different management options in the urban environment. There have also been recently one or two papers published by a PhD student of mine focussing on trade-offs of land use decisions using optimisation approach in Switzerland. He has been focussing more on soil sealing as well as the compactness of a city. It is also possible to apply decision support tools in the urban domain. It’s a question of what models and data are in place to measure that effects.
