Forest management and stakeholder engagement
Working closely with forest owners, forest policy makers and stakeholder from the forest industry, nature protection, recreation and more, the CLIMB-FOREST team aims to identify the most optimal forest management options for the coming decades.
Bringing together forest stakeholders and the research sector, we will first identify forest management options that generate forests that are resilient to climate change, and are provide a full range of ecosystem services.
A group of 25 stakeholders will accompany the CLIMB-FOREST team on field visits in Spain, France, Poland, Czechia and Norway. During each field visit we’ll develop and test different methodologies for assessing forest management options. In addition to more traditional stakeholder engagement and interaction this will include modelling forest data and presenting results through different GIS mapping techniques and visualisations.
Stakeholders will help us to develop long-term pathways for delivering more resilient forests in the future and finally we’ll use our experiences to produce a template which can be used for engaging stakeholders on different forest management options across Europe.
