Resource description:
The AVEC project (Adaptation of Plants to the Climate of Tomorrow) studied different species of trees, shrubs and climbing plants for their characteristics involved in the biological and physiological mechanisms for resistance to hot and dry conditions, in relation to climate projections for the French metropolitan area. Cooling capacity and carbon sequestration capabilities of the same taxa was also studied.
The project has enriched the Végébase database, so that the knowledge produced (criteria and indicators) can be consulted on Floriscope, in the "Climate Change" tab of the files of the plants concerned. This data is also used to feed decision-making tools, such as Sesame, developed by Cerema, a partner in the project.
