Resource description:

These are the figures that are published in "A quantitative review of relationships between ecosystem services" in Ecological Indicators in 2016. In this publication, we analysed 67 case studies that studied 476 pairwise ES combinations. The relationships between these pairs of ES were classified into three categories: "trade-off", "synergy" or "no-effect". We demonstrated a comprehensive matrix of pairs of ES and tested whether the relationships differ at different scales, in the different land systems, and by the method applied to characterise the relationship.

Requirements:

  • These are the results of a quantitative review of relationships between ecosystem services published in Ecological Indicators in 2016

Advantages:

  • Our results provide an overview of relationships of ES studied so far together with the information on the level of agreement between study results. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study in which such a comprehensive matrix of relationship

  • Please cite the results properly: H. Lee and S. Lautenbach, Ecological Indicators 66 (2016) 340-351
