The event will spotlight the important role of Indigenous people and local communities (IPLCs) in countries’ national climate plans. Speakers from COICA, CONFENIAE and a representative from the Ministry of Environment, Peru will share experiences and best practices to discuss how IPLCs can effectively and fully participate in national policymaking and decision-making processes. This will be critical as countries revise their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). A policy brief on the role of IPLCs in raising the Paris Agreement ambition and implementation in Latin America will be released the same day.
