Resource description:
Tool Assessor is the UK's online resource on analytical tools that link the environment and society A wide range of tools for analysing ecosystem services, natural capital and green infrastructure have been developed in recent years in the UK and globally, and more are in development. Information about these tools and their functions is often hard to access, and it is not always easy to choose which tool to investigate further. Tool Assessor is focused on tools that help people manage the environment as an asset rather than simply managing it for nature conservation objectives. While it focuses on tools that can be used in the UK, many of the tools included will be applicable elsewhere in Europe.
Requirements:
- None - internet access only
Advantages:
- The tool profiles are produced by the independent Ecosystems Knowledge Network. The aim is not to promote any one tool over another, but to help people to understand what analytical tools are on offer and their capabilities.
Constraints:
- Tool Assessor is focused on practical tools that are applicable in the UK.
- Tool Assessor is focused on tools that have analytical capability, i.e not method statements or frameworks and not guidance. Methods, guidance and case studies are available elsewhere on the Ecosystems Knowledge Network website.
Licence:
- Free, no licence
Development stage:
- Full, working product
