Oppla members' thoughts for 2019

17 January 2019

In our weekly newsletter, Outline, we asked Oppla members: ‘What are you excited about in 2019?’ We’re delighted to be able to share some of our members' plans and initiatives for the upcoming year:

Marie Fischborn, IUCN PANORAMA Coordinator

I am sure 2019 will be another exciting year for the PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet initiative and its vast community of “solution providers” and users. We will crack the threshold of 500 curated “solution” case studies from all over the world published on our web platform, launch a new thematic community on “Sustainable Urban Development and Resilience” with the World Bank….and much more!

Raiza Gomes Fraga, CGEE

I’m motivated for the launch of the Sustainable Cities Innovation Observatory, in the second half of this year. Our mission is to identify innovative local, regional and international urban solutions to contextualize them in Brazilian territory, fostering the transition of Brazilian cities to sustainability. Want to know more?

Gerardo Anzaldúa, Fellow at Ecologic Institute

This year I am really looking forward to the third innovation cycle of our BRIGAID project. We will run a fresh batch of nature-based solutions to address droughts, water scarcity, wildfires, river and coastal floods through our testing, implementation, and business development programme. Ingenious and inspiring ideas ahead!

Eva Zabey, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)

"I’m really looking forward to working with many of you on We Value Nature in 2019! We have significant funding from the EU and enthusiasm to make a real difference. We Value Nature aims to make valuing nature the new normal for businesses and an initial survey will help shape our direction.
