About Agro-ecology KEN

Current food systems are the single most influential driver of planetary boundary transgression. Food systems account for the near totality of nitrogen and phosphorus boundary transgression (Rockström et al., 2025). The global food system is the primary driver of the biodiversity crisis (Benton et al., 2021). Ensuring food security without compromising the environment is one of the greatest challenges of our time. A transformative change in our society and policy is needed to halt this process (Perreira et al., 2025). Also in Europe, agriculture is the main source of pressure on habitats and species (EEA, 2020).
