DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission is co-organising an international seminar on Nature-based Solutions (NBS), to be held in Brasilia on 9 and 10 July 2018. This event is a major milestone of the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogue on Nature-based Solutions.
During this event, the preliminary results of the sector dialogue will be presented, as well as the EU R&I policy and network of projects on NBS, and opportunities for R&I cooperation with Brazil. The first lines of a roadmap for NBS in Brazil will also be discussed. A series of stakeholders from different sectors will attend the event: Brazilian federal, regional and local government representatives, academia, businesses, financing institutions, NGOs, as well as international organizations and networks (UNEP, ICLEI).
The event will be the perfect occasion for highlighting EU projects and initiatives, as well as opportunities for international cooperation under Horizon 2020 in the area of NBS. Business opportunities for EU and Brazilian companies will also be discussed. This goes hand in hand with the objective of mainstreaming NBS internationally, as cost-effective solutions to tackle societal challenges in Europe and beyond, and indeed as cross-cutting approaches to tackling the SGDs.
