We joined Sigrid, project leader of Invest4Nature in Tyrol to discuss the Austria Living Lab.
What did you enjoy most about your stakeholder engagement event(s)?
Nature-based solutions is a new “wording” for solutions which has been used in Tyrol as a solution against natural hazards . Although NbS is a relatively new term for many in the region, there has been great interest in learning more about NbS and how to work with NbS which was visible through the numbers of attendees in the webinar carried out in 2025 as part of the event program. This is although it was in English and therefore not in the local language. – the first English speaking webinar offered by Klimabündnis Tirol. It has been great to nurture this interest thruogh scientifiy presentations from consortium partners.
What did your stakeholder event(s) achieve? For example: what did stakeholders learn; what were the outcomes; what difference did it make for your local area?
External: The feedback on the first version of the toolbox focused largely on the method, while the webinar, which was an event open to everyone, had a wide reach and attracted more than just one type of stakeholder. Both private and public stakeholders participated.
What are the next priorities for your Living Lab, during and beyond the Invest4Nature project?
To work on the dissemination of results for the two cases in Tyrol: Climate Resilient Mountain Forest and the revitalisation of the river Lech. This is done among others through the last WP4 webinar “Governance, financing and multiple benefits of NBS” but this time in local language, taking place in spring 2026 together with local partners.
