Methods KEN

Methods Knowledge Exchange Network (MKEN) supports and enhances the design, delivery, and evaluation of robust and efficient methods in response to both urgent (3-6 months) and standard (6 -12 months) requests to the BioAgora project as part of establishing the Science Service for Biodiversity.

The MKEN forms part of the wider BioAgora Knowledge Exchange Network ecosystem and brings together methodological experts and practitioners in a structured community of practice. It fosters knowledge exchange, co-creation, and capacity building to improve methodological design and execution at the science policy interface for biodiversity.

Initially supporting the Methods4Nature project (2026–2027), the MKEN is intended to evolve into a lasting network that supports and guides method selection and implementation beyond the project’s lifetime, supporting the development of the Science Service for Biodiversity (SSBD).

The network aims to strengthen methodological robustness and relevance, support co-design and testing of approaches, enable cross-sector knowledge exchange, and contribute to long-term uptake and legacy.

Members contribute voluntarily, and represent a wide range of disciplines and sectors, and collaborate through online activities including workshops, knowledge sharing, and contributions to methodological guidance and urgent policy responses, and are united by a common goal: to make science more responsive, transparent, and actionable for decision-makers.

Aims of the MKEN

  • Strengthen the methodological robustness and relevance of requests at the science policy-interface.
  • Support co-design and testing of knowledge synthesis methods and approaches in Methods4Nature.
  • Enable knowledge exchange across research, practice, and policy communities.
  • Contribute to long-term uptake, impact, and legacy.

Open to experts and practitioners with relevant methodological experience across research, policy, civil society, and applied fields. Diversity of disciplines, sectors, and perspectives is encouraged.
