You are invited to contribute to the further development of the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BES) Footprint framework developed in the A-Track project. We are gathering feedback from Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practitioners and researchers across business and academia.
The overall goal of A-Track is to consolidate and mainstream activities to accelerate the transformation of how businesses, financial institutions and governments integrate the value of natural capital into their decision-making. A-Track has been working on the conceptualisation of a Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BES) Footprint, trying to develop harmonized answers to how key aspects of biodiversity and ecosystem services should be addressed through LCA. This way, we aim to overcome existing challenges and introduce principles of natural capital accounting in accordance with ISO standards and reporting frameworks.
We aim to co-design the development of the BES Footprint framework, incorporating the views from LCA practitioners and researchers in business and academia, looking to integrate biodiversity (and nature more broadly) in LCA for improved decision making, towards better aligning business operations and supply chains with nature positive outcomes. The idea is also to build upon the latest methodological advances and state of practice.
We will take the feedback received into consideration in the BES Footprint operationalisation phase and will post updates on the A-Track website.
The consultation period will close on 1 December.
