On 16 June from 13:00-16:00 CEST, the Green City Accord will host the workshop ‘The Green City Accord: A closer look at indicators for monitoring & reporting’ to facilitate insightful discussions regarding the practical implementation of innovative projects, initiatives, and legislation in relation to the established indicators in the GCA five target areas: air, water, nature & biodiversity, noise, and waste & circular economy.

At this event, signatories, interested cities, and supporters of the Accord will be afforded an exceptional opportunity to receive further clarification on the indicators, in addition to posing technical questions to a virtual room full of GCA experts. Signatory cities will establish progress reports every three years to monitor their achievements and pinpoint areas where support and/or growth is needed. To assist them in this endeavor, the GCA team established a set of mandatory indicators that serves as a baseline for signatory cities’ monitoring and reporting processes.

The event will be broken down into three parts:

·       13:00 to 13:50: General introduction to the Green City Accord and its monitoring and reporting system

·       14:00 to 15:30: Parallel technical sessions on indicators in the different domains (air & noise, water, circular economy & waste, and nature & biodiversity); with ample space for the participants’ individual questions

·       15:35 to 16:00: Open floor for questions in plenary setting and information on next steps (incl. intervention by a representative of DG Environment, European Commission)

Confirmed speakers for this session include: Claudia Fusco, Head of Unit, Environmental Knowledge, Eco Innovation and SMEs, DG Environment, European Commission; Sebastian Marx, Senior EU & Environment Expert, Eurocities; Patrycja Długosz-Stroetges, Officer, Natural Resources & Environmental Management, ICLEI Europe; Bettina Wilk,Senior Officer, Nature-Based Solutions, Green Infrastructure and Biodiversity, ICLEI Europe; Nikolai Jacobi, Senior Officer, Energy, Material & Built Infrastructure, ICLEI Europe; Alis-Daniela Torres, Senior Officer, Sustainable Resources, Climate and Resilience, ICLEI Europe ; Daniela RizziSenior Officer Sustainable Resources, Climate and Resilience, ICLEI Europe and Barbara Anton, Senior Coordinator, Sustainable Resources, Climate and Resilience, ICLEI Europe.
