In this second edition, the audience will dig in more on co-creative frameworks under the umbrella of the NBS EduWORLD projects for prioritising sustainable actions in a rural setting. Our partners from Moldova’s Biosphere Reserve, will introduce the environmental situation of Lake Beleu in the region of the Danube Delta area, and gather relevant local stakeholders to discuss the governance aspects for implementing ecosystem restoration practices, which include NbS.

The webinar will cover the step 2 explore and step 3 prioritise of the UrbanByNature Programme (UbN) 7-steps integrated management cyclical approach. This methodology is based on the international standard ISO 37101 “Sustainable development in communities” and The step which mainly focus on establishing a co-creative environment for discussing on challenging and bringing in practical examples and theoretical concepts for the mainstreaming of sustainable actions, in different urban, rural and peri-urban settings.
The UbN Prioritising Step emphasised the needs of co-creative frameworks for prioritisation of actions based on analysing existing practices, tracking the interventions put in place and their level of success, and incorporating new knowledge from scientific experts in the field. Anatolie Risina will bring an overview on the status of Lake Beleu, its surrounding areas, and how the governance and decision-making process have had to deal with several constraints. After him, we will include the speech from Dr. Agata Klimkowska, expert on wetlands restoration, who has inspired us during our NBS EduWORLD Hackathon held online last March. Finally, our Higher Education Students, Sebastian Salcedo (LLM) and Christian Simeoni (PhD) will expose their work within the Hackathon, bringing fresh, transdisciplinary and out-of-the-box ideas co-developed during this event, which won the prize for the best project for the case of Moldova.
The Horizon Europe NBS EduWORLD Project is developing this series of 6 webinars, the first of which was held on the last 4th of July 2024 online.
Why to participate?
This series of webinars are a great opportunity to learn on how innovative learning systems are increasing NBS knowledge and supporting real restoration actions, under the umbrella of the NBS EduWORLD Project. Following the 7-steps approach of the UrbanByNature Programme, we invite you all to participate in this second edition of this series, where we will focus on the rural setting around Lake Beleu in Moldova (Danube Biosphere). We will discuss how to include profound change in the NBS education landscape, together with planning policy-makers, local stakeholders, high-level scientists, youth and Higher Education Students and representatives from private and non-profit organisations working on the field, to share, explore and bring in innovation for prioritising NBS.
Who do we target?
These series are open to everyone, but guaranteeing the presence of:
- Local and regional governments, meaning those committed to integrating green, increasing biodiversity, mainstreaming sustainable actions and implementing NBS (e.g. CitiesWithNature, ICLEI members, UrbanByNature registrants and our representatives from cities that engaged as partners of the NBS EduWORLD Project)
- Society in general, and especial the youth generation, including our Higher Education Students that participated at the NBS EduWORLD Hackathon last March
- Leaders on NBS, such as those involved in the NBS Taskforces (through NetworkNature, among others)
- Nature-based Entrepreneurs, such as those registered in the Connecting Nature Enterprise Platform, or partnering in different NBS-related EU-funded Projects (e.g. H2020 NICE, H2020 MULTISOURCE, NN, etc)
