Join us for a webinar which will showcase the contribution of MERLIN, REST-COAST, SUPERB and WaterLANDS, four of the projects funded by the Horizon 2020 Green Deal Call aimed at restoring biodiversity and ecosystem services, to the development and implementation of the Nature Restoration Law (NRL), adopted by the European Council on 17 June 2024.
Context
This webinar aims to showcase the contribution of the projects MERLIN, REST-COAST, SUPERB and WaterLANDS to the development and implementation of the Nature Restoration Law. More importantly, the webinar aims to provide other EU-funded projects the opportunity to get an insight into how projects can concretely contribute to the policy making process, what challenges should be addressed on the way, and what might be the best drivers to facilitate the process.
The four projects are funded under the H2020 Green Deal Call topic LC-GD-7-1-2020 and collaborate as a cluster on ecosystem restoration, as well as part of the Green Deal Call Projects Support Office (GD-SO)'s Climate Change and Biodiversity Working Group. All four projects are working to develop and demonstrate methodologies for large-scale restoration of different European ecosystems and their biodiversity.
In this webinar, the projects will describe and share their experience on how they collaborated to put together a joint document with comments in response to the consultation on the Nature Restoration Law. The document provided views on the law as a whole, as well as comments and remarks related to specific articles (for details, see here). The projects will also illustrate how they engaged to this end with the different policy units. This will be done by means of a panel discussion which will also see the involvement of speakers from other European and international organisations.
