We are very pleased to present to you the massive open online course (MOOC): Landscape Restoration for Sustainable Development: a Business Approach.
This MOOC is the first offer of the so-called ENABLE consortium and an initiative from Commonland.
We feel encouraged that the enthusiasm for landscape restoration and management has grown dramatically recently, and that its fundamental importance for many publically debated topics such as climate change, water and food security, poverty and migration is increasingly acknowledged. However, in order to further build momentum and scale-up the restoration of degraded landscapes it is vital that the business and finance communities participate in current and future efforts.
Therefore, Commonland, together with the Rotterdam School of Management, Estoril Conferences, CSIC and UNU’s Land Restoration Training Programme and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the EU, has taken the initiative to develop an online course specifically geared towards the nexus of landscapes and business. The consortium, known as ENABLE - the European Network for the Advancement of Business and Landscape Education - aims to educate the next generation of business leaders with an ecosystems’ view, ready to include landscape-related issues in their decision-making processes, thus making businesses more sustainable and a force for good.
This MOOC lasts 7 weeks and will address topics like the Sustainable Development Goals, Land Degradation, Business-driven Landscape Restoration, Economics of Land Degradation, 4 returns Approach, Wicked problems, Partnerships and Sustainable Business Models.
