AIDA: AI-assisted Decision Analysis
Like the protagonists of Verdi's Aida, decision-makers often face difficult choices involving competing objectives, stakeholder interests, uncertainties, and values. Decision analysis helps make these tensions explicit, supports the systematic exploration of alternatives, and enhances transparency in decision-making.
The AIDA tool (AI-assisted Decision Analysis) provides guidance on how generative AI can be used responsibly and effectively throughout the decision-analysis process. It does not make decisions for people; it helps people in using AI to make better-informed decisions for themselves.
The AIDA module introduces the fundamentals of the decision-analysis process and provides guidance on how to use generative AI responsibly and transparently to support decision analysis, particularly in environmental decision-making. It also provides example prompts that can be used to obtain meaningful responses from generative AI.

Generative AI: Generative AI is a subset of AI capable of generating text, images, video or other forms of output by using probabilistic models trained across one or more domains. These models learn from large amounts of specially-curated training data to discern and replicate complex patterns and structures. The output generated by these models mimics the characteristics learned from that training data, enabling many novel applications – ranging from personalised content generation, to advanced analysis and evaluation, and aiding creative processes.[definition from GOV.UK]
