News
21 February 2024

The CO-OP4CBD project team extends an invitation to researchers and practitioners across Europe, EEA, and beyond, as they open the second call for experts to join their biodiversity expert network. This opportunity offers professionals at all career levels the chance to actively contribute to the implementation of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at national and regional levels.

Members of the expert network engage in a dynamic science-policy synergy, participating in training sessions on biodiversity protection processes and joining thematic groups focusing on specific CBD Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) agenda topics. The call is open to experts in various fields, including:

  • Biodiversity and health

  • Use of Digital Sequence Information on Genetic Resources

  • Conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal biodiversity

  • Detection and identification of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs)

  • Ecologically or Biologically Significant Marine Areas (EBSAs)

  • Monitoring framework for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework

  • Risk assessment and risk management for LMOs

  • Synthetic biology

Joining the CO-OP4CBD expert network not only provides the chance to attend online capacity-building workshops in early 2024 but also opens doors to participation in special in-person workshops. Selected experts may contribute to the development of technical briefs addressing biodiversity protection mechanisms under the CBD.
