Cost-Benefit Analyser
Best for: testing the economic and financial case for an NbS project or comparing scenarios.
- Build an assessment from a ready-to-use landscape template or start from scratch.
- Enter project costs and benefits across the project lifetime.
- Calculate indicators including Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Explore cost-effectiveness, uncertainty scenarios and sensitivity to key assumptions.
- Compare multiple case studies or scenarios and export results for further work.
Example question: “Do the expected benefits of this intervention justify the costs over its lifetime, and which assumptions matter most?”

Performance Assessment
Best for: understanding benefits that are important but may not be easy or appropriate to monetise.
- Explore qualitative indicators linked to nature-based solutions.
- Move from selected NbS to relevant indicators, or start with indicators and explore suitable NbS.
- Use visual outputs to consider different dimensions of performance.
- Combine qualitative performance with economic analysis as part of a broader multi-criteria assessment.
Example question: “What environmental and social benefits should we consider alongside the financial case?”

Best for: finding relevant NbS examples and getting oriented quickly.
- Describe your need or proposed solution using free text.
- Refine results using search settings and metadata filters.
- Explore recommended case studies and their locations on an interactive map.
- Open detailed case information and, where available, move directly into a qualitative assessment.
